Treatment Placement

Entelechy Recovery can help with the often overwhelming task of determining the appropriate level of treatment and identifying qualified programs to meet your needs. Our treatment professionals keep up to date information about treatment centers across the country including their certifications and levels of care. We spend much of our time visiting the programs, asking appropriate questions to determine the quality of care delivered and keeping up with changes and updates to the best treatment programs around the country. Our consultation process also involves an individual assessment to determine the level and type of care needed. Some will need a full spectrum of treatment services including detox, inpatient residential treatment, partial hospitalization, outpatient and recovery coaching, while others may only need a lighter spectrum of services.

Our treatment consultation and placement service is available as a stand alone service and is included as part of our Comprehensive and Coached Interventions.

Below is a helpful list of levels of treatment. We are providing this detailed information about each level of treatment, as we know it can be confusing for a family to navigate through the maze of treatment options.

Detoxification

Known as the “detox” phase, this is usually the first step in treatment. Detox refers to the process of removing substances and other toxins from your body in order to clear them out of your system. Someone going through detox can use professional help (medically assisted) to safely and comfortably clear the body of the unwanted substance and manage the withdrawal symptoms associated with it. In order to detox safely, you should do so in a medical facility with professional staff who can care for you while you are there. It usually averages about 3-7 days depending on the substance and how often it was being used.

Inpatient Stabilization

The inpatient stabilization program is usually the first door to treatment and assists a person in becoming stabilized in a medical facility. From there the patient would transition to a residential treatment center once it is safe to do so. Standardized inpatient treatment consists of 24-hour care, seven days a week in a licensed facility with medical professionals. During their stay they will receive psychoeducation which helps a person understand their symptoms and behavioral activation to increase engagement from the person and allow them to decrease avoidance. This would be a good fit for someone who is actively engaged in treatment, who is going through a tough time and needs stabilization but does not have the financial resources for full hospitalization.

Residential

Treatment in a live-in health care facility where a patient receives therapy for their substance abuse problem with an average length of stay from anywhere from 30-90 days depending on the need of the patient. Residential treatment allows a person to receive care 24-7 by a medical professional and get the support that they need in order to remain sober and recover from addiction. During their time in treatment they will have a support team that consists of a Case Manager, Primary Therapist, Psychiatrist and a team of medical professionals. They will help the patient with their physical, emotional and spiritual health using different methodologies that assist in recovery. During their stay, patients receive therapy, support and other strategies necessary to help in recovering from an addiction to alcohol or substances.

PHP - Partial Hospitalization

A treatment program for people who suffer from substance abuse or mental health disorders. The patient can remain living in their own home and attend treatment therapies at a hospital up to seven days a week. In the U.S. PHP’s are offered at a hospital or a private mental healthcare facility. A typical day during PHP can include group therapy, skill building, psych-educational groups, individual therapy and psychopharmacological assessments check-ins. PHP’s are generally offered 6-7 hours per day and 5 days per week, ensuring the patient has all the support they need to help them recover.

IOP - Intensive Outpatient

A treatment program used to address addictions, eating disorders, depression or other dependencies that does not require detoxification or 24/7 supervision and support. The patient can live at home and continue with their daily routines and attend therapy sessions during the day or in the evening. Someone who is in IOP care can receive treatment around 3 hours per day and 5 days per week. The intent of IOP’s is to establish support mechanisms, provide coping strategies and help with relapse management. IOP can be used as a follow up program to residential treatment or as a primary treatment option to support recovery.

OP - Outpatient

Similar to IOP, a treatment program that allows a person to continue living at home and work while they get treatment for their addiction, eating disorder, mental health problems, or process addictions. These programs are typically held 2-4 evenings per week and are supplemented by 12 step meetings or other types of support groups. Some programs have a schedule that the patient needs to stick to while other programs offer flexibility that can be made around other obligations such as employment and childcare. An outpatient program is typically less expensive and can help a person who has financial limitations.

Sober Living

A sober living facility or sometimes referred to as “halfway house” serves as a safe and supportive transitional living arrangement between residential/inpatient treatment and moving back home. People typically stay in sober living from 3-12 months. Sober living facilities provide a patient with the resources and support they need to go back to their daily routines and continue with their recovery plans and lessons that they learned during treatment before fully integrating back into their home and day to day responsibilities.

Intensive Retreats

Retreat programs that are generally from 3-7 days and offer an intensive therapeutic experience to an individual that allow them to focus on their specific issues in a safe and therapeutic environment. Clients stay at the facility or nearby hotel. These programs include both individual and group therapy, as well as holistic practices including yoga, meditation, hiking or other physical activities to help with the healing process.
